VH-BKB (2)
de
Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth
(c/n DHA434)
This is the second VH-BKB. The first,
also a Tiger, was cancelled from the register in 1951
and
re-born as VH-BTS.
This one was ex A17-392 and civilianized in 1946 as VH-ATL
before
becoming VH-BKB in 1958. It is seen above at Moorabbin in
1960 in this photo by
Bob
Dougherty (via the John Hopton collection) wearing Victorian Aerial
Farming Aids titling.
Geoff Goodall's hangar shot (below) was taken
at Ballarat in 1967. This Tiger was eventually
exported to
the US
where it was registered N5446. It is still (2009) current and is
seen in
a shot at the foot of the page taken by
Greg Putz (via Jerry Vernon) whilst the aircraft was re-
fueling
at Regina, Saskatchewan in July 2009. (Considering
the Tiger is registered in Georgia,
that's
quite an Odyssey!).. The FAA gives its c/n as A17-392,
incidentally.
