VH-BIO
(1) de Havilland D.H.82A Tiger
Moth
(c/n DHA858)
This shot came from Bernadette Wood,
whose father, Dr. Alan J. Wood was a flying doctor
out of Cloncurry
in the 1940s. This shot was probably taken there. VH-BIO was the
former
A17-628, and civilianized in September
1947. Little is known of its owners, except
that it
sustained damage at Cloncurry, Qld on 11 March 1952, which
was extensive enough at that
time to have it
withdrawn from use. Much later on, of course, it would have
been restored.
but in those days (my days, in fact), Tigers were
extremely common and not worth putting a
lot of money
into.
