VH-BGW de Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth
(c/n DHA935)
This rough image was culled
from the Sydney Morning Herald for 23 May 1949. The Tiger,
owned
by Dr. Sydney Blumer but piloted
by Jack Merlehan, 26, had nose dived onto a hill near Ingleburn the
previous day. Ground softened by heavy
rain broke the force of the crash and the pilot was uninjured.
The aircraft was repaired and went
on to fly for a couple more years, being finally withdrawn from use
in August 1951. It was
originally civilianized in February 1948, ex A17-512.
