VH-BGW  de Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth            (c/n  DHA935)

                                   

                                        This rough image was culled from the Sydney Morning Herald for 23 May 1949.   The Tiger, owned
                                        by Dr. Sydney Blumer but piloted by Jack Merlehan, 26, had nose dived onto a hill near Ingleburn the
                                        previous day.   Ground softened by heavy rain broke the force of the crash and the pilot was uninjured.
                                        The aircraft was repaired and went on to fly for a couple more years, being finally withdrawn from use
                                        in August  1951.  It was originally civilianized in February 1948, ex A17-512.
