VH-BCM  Percival P.44 proctor V    (c/n  Ae.8) 

                               

                                     This Proctor was built post-WW II and registered G-AGTB before being exported to Australia
                                     in 1948.   I have two shots of it, both taken at Moorabbin.   In 1955 it was acquired by Super
                                     Spread Pty Ltd (see below).   It was re-registered soon after this shot was taken to VH-SST.
                                     I suspect it was used as a liaison aicraft to spec out spray jobs to be done, rather than as a
                                     sprayer itself.      It was later restored and displayed at the Camden Aviation Museum in NSW
                                     in RAF markings as NP336, as seen in the take-off of the color slide at the foot of the page by
                                     David Eyre.  The choice of serial was to represent the RAF Proctor sent to Canberra for the
                                     Governor General's Communications Flight in 1945 along with an Avro York and an Anson 12
                                     when Prince William of Gloucester commenced a colonial appointment as Governor General
                                     (see VH-BNB).  .
