VH-BAK (2)* Avro 652A Anson 1
The
above shot is from the Wally Civitico collection, gleaned from the
archives of Exxon Mobil.
This
Anson was owned by Townsville
& Country Airways, registered to them in May of 1947.
The print below, from the Geoff Goodall
collection, shows it loading at Cloncurry in 1947.
TACA flew long
distances to outback north Queensland towns as far west
as Mount Isa.
VH-BAK
suffered an undercarriage collapse on landing at Julia Creek on 4
January 1948
badly damaging the wing. It was stripped for
parts and the fuselage trucked back to the
company
base in
Townsville. Townsville & Country was taken over over by
ANA using a
DC-3.
*
VH-BAK (1) was ntu and was originally allocated to the DC-3 which
became VH-EAL.
