VH-AYX de
Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth
(c/n DHA341)
Two nice shots of this
Tiger both taken at Bankstown.. Above, by the late (and great) Peter
Keating
on 29 September 1956, a few weeks
after it was sold by Bankstown aircraft dealers Kingsford Smith
Aviation Service to Pasture Improvement Aviation Service, Grenfell NSW.
It already has a hopper
installed in the front
cockpit for dusting or seeding. Below, a short while previously, by Jim
Dyson. Note
Airspeed Consul (never
civilly registered) in the background.
VH-AYX was the former A17-322
and civilianized in November 1946. It had
a series of Sydney private owners before
being converted
for agricultural use. It ended up with Territory Rice Ltd in
the Northern Territory and was retired in
a hangar at Alice Springs and cancelled from the register in
December 1965.
