VH-AYA Cessna 182N Skylane
(c/n
182-60204)
I doubt very much that I will ever
glean a photograph of the original VH-AYA which was an Avro
Anson registered late
in 1946 and wfu a year later. The aircraft seen above was not
registered until
September of 1973 and, as such it is somewhat "out of sequence" as
regards the range of images I am
currently mounting (early 2008),
qualification for inclusion of which is that they were first registered
in
or before 1970. However, I am
using this photograph to illustrate the starboard landing gear platform
modification in more detail, as referred
to in the entry for VH-EFY.
As can be seen in the close-up
below, this sturdy structure is used as
a perch for skydivers
before taking their leap, and is fitted over
the standard sprung steel leg on the starboard
side
only. Both shots were taken by Phil Vabre at
Bendigo, Victoria in November 2006 when the
aircraft
was used for skydiving at nearby Bridgewater
