VH-AXP de
Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth
(c/n DHA106)
This Tiger came to grief
when it crashed near Ranelagh Guest House, Mr. Eliza, Victoria on
9 July 1947. Engine
failure caused the pilot to attempt to land in a clearing, but he
overshot
and landed in trees. Neither pilot nor
passenger suffered serious injuries, but the Tiger was
written off. The above print is
from the Melbourne Argus of 10 July 1947. The aircraft had
originally been civilianized on September 1946, ex A17-109.
