VH-AXN de
Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth
(c/n DHA166)
VH-AXN is seen at Perth's Maylands Aerodrome
in October 1946 in this photo from the Geoff
Goodall
collection. This was immediately after its civil conversion from
RAAF A17-165. It had
just been sold
by the Commonwealth Disposals Commission at RAAF Cunderdin to the Bishop
of
Geraldton, WA for 315 pounds on 18 June 1946. It was
registered to Father Edward Bryan
of the
Roman Catholic Mission, Gerlandton and carried the name "Loreto" on the
nose. Unfortun-
ately its pastoral
service lasted only two months, as VH-AXN crashed at Roy Hill WA on 12
December 1946
