VH-AWA de
Havilland D.H.82A Tiger
Moth
(c/n DHA824)
This aircraft was previously the Tamworth Aero Club's
VH-TWA, and A17-692 with the RAAF
before that. It
became VH-AWA the second in March of 1961, the first -AWA being, of
course,
the Airlines (WA) Ltd
Dove. Neville Parnell took the above shot at Camden, NSW in
November
1962. Geoff
Goodall
found it in the hangar
at Coffs Harbour, NSW in
September 1968 (immed-
iately
below). John Wheatley's shot (# 3) shows it
wearing what appears to be some aero club
stripes (although I
don't think they were) circa 1971. It is now part of the
RAAF
Museum's flying
exhibits and, as can be
seen in the shot at the foot of the
page by Barry Maclean taken at Pt. Cook
in April
2006, the aircraft has been restored to its
WW II air force colors.
