VH-AVF (2) Piper PA-23-250
Aztec
(c/n 27-1300)
VH-AVF was a 'previously used' machine having been flying in the US as
N4616P for several
years before it
became part of Avis Rent-a-plane’s fleet of Aztecs in January 1966.
David
Carter's nice photo above was taken at Bankstown in December 1970
after the Aztec had been
freshly
overhauled by Hawker de Havillands. VH-AVF was cancelled from the
register in April
1974 as
withdrawn from service before being restored in August 1975 to new
owners. In July
1985 it was sold
in Fiji as DQ-FEB where it remained until it crashed off Malolo Lailai
Island on
July 8, 1987.
