VH-AUY   de Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth    (c/n  83153)

                           

                               This Tiger was formerly with the Tasmanian Aero Club and leads the line up of the entire fleet in the
                               nice photo gleaned by Martin Eadie shown under VH-BLV.   The shot above, taken at Moorabbin in
                               1957 shows the aircraft after having been fitted with spray bars for agricultural work.  VH-AUY was
                               a UK-built machine, serving in the RAAF with its RAF serial T5410    It was owned by Aerial Crop-
                               dusters and Sprayers Pty. Ltd.    The photograph below shows it with slightly different company titles,
                               whilst shot # 3 was taken by Peter Keating earlier at Bankstown in June 1955 whilst -AUY was still
                               with Kingsford Smith Flying Services' pilot school.         The photo at the foot of the page, taken by
                               Richard E. Hourigan (via John Hopton) at Albury in April 1962 shows yet another rendition of Aerials'
                               titling. . By that time fuselage regos were back in favor.     Note odd wire arrangement on prop spinner
                               of the Wirraway A20-685 in the left background in this photo.   The Wirraway was one of two pur-
                               chased by Marshall Spreading Service at Albury -  allegedly for CA-28 Ceres spares, although in fact
                               they kept A20-685 in tip-top condition in their Albury hangar and taxied it around the airfield occasionally.
                               Anyway, back to VH-AUY:  it was written off in a crash near Galore, NSW in 1963.
