VH-AUK de
Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth
(c/n DHA583)
The two images on this page are both by Geoff
Goodall. It was a crop duster the shot when the shot
above was taken
at Albury, NSW in 1965. When he saw it again at Wodonga,
Victoria (Below) in
1973, it
appears to have been converted to a single seat aerobatic
machine. It crashed at Melton, Vic
not long after this
photograph was taken (in February 1974). There appears to
be
an identity problem
associated with
VH-AUK. One source states
that it was c/n 3632 and hence the former VH-UZT,
impressed into
service as A17-677, and registered VH-AUK
in 1958. Another source claims it to be
c/n DHA583, ex-RAAF
A17-408 first registered in 1947. When I personally pulled the
details from
the old VH- Civil
Register ledger pages in 1953, DCA (as
it was then) reported the
c/n for -AUK as
A17-408. That doesn't necessarily make it
correct, but it probably was
the latter.
