VH-AON de Havilland DH.84A Dragon
(c/n 2019)
Here's -AON at Moorabbin in
December 1970, appropriately named "Puff"
( of Viet Nam era
The Magic Dragon fame).
This photograph is by Neville Parnell (via the Brian Baker collection).
VH-AON was delivered to the
RAAF as A34-30 in 1942. It was civilianized in 1947 and had
several periods of inactivity, ending up in 1981 at the Air World
display at Wangaratta. When
that
enterprise went under it was acquired by Harvey McBain of Nelson, Vic,
with whom it is still
currently registered.
The in-flight photo below is from the Len McNeil collection (via Greg
Weir)
and shows -AON over what
appears to be the Southern Highlands of PNG.
