VH-AOK de
Havilland D.H.84 Dragon
(c/n 2056)
This Dragon was owned by the
Newcastle Aero Club of Broadmeadows Airport when this shot,
from the Roger McDonald collection was taken at
Casino, NSW in March 1949. It was used
for twin engine training and
general club flying. VH-AOK was the former A34-67, civilianized in
July
1946. It went to Queensland Flying Services in March 1947
and was acquired by Qantas
in April 1950 for their New Guinea
operations. When its CofA expired a scant seven
months
later it was recalled to Brisbane,
ostensibly to be rebuilt. In the event this did not happen
and it
was stricken from the register in
August 1951.
