VH-AMD (2) de Havilland D.H.82A
Tiger Moth (c/n
DHA154)
The first two -AMDs were Tiger Moths. This, the
second, was the former VH-BTW (and VH-BLK
and A17-153 before that). It had had a career as a
cropduster with five different West Australian
companies before being retired in 1963 by Bob Couper Co at Cunderdin.
It was rebuilt at Cunderdin
to
standard two seater configuration and sold to a private owner at Grass
Valley WA. In 1969 it was
purchased
by Harvey Pearce of Victor Harbour, SA who was in the business of
exporting Tiger Moths
to the
USA. In May 1969 it was crated up and shipped from Port Adelaide,
and by December of that
year was flying
again as N1244T registered to Stanley T. Reeves of Minnesota. It
now flies out of
Pebble Beach,
California as N82AZ The above shot was taken at Rockingham
WA, in October
1965
by Merv Prime (seen here via the Geoff Goodall collection).
