VH-AJA de Havilland
D.H.82A Tiger Moth (c/n 629/T192)
If this Tiger had been built with the coupe
canopy it would, theoretically, have been a D.H.82C.
However, the cover had been fitted some time
prior to my taking this shot of it at Moorabbin in
1955. Greg Banfield caught it (below) at Bankstown
in August 1966 looking very smart with
"That
Magnificent Flying Machine" titling. At about the same
time Geoff Goodall ran across it
(#3 below) sitting in a farmer's paddock near
Barham, NSW. I see he drove his Ford Zephyr
up a dirt
road to
take the shot. John Wheatley's color slide
(foot of the page) was taken around\
1971. This
Tiger (ex RAAF A17-437) is still flying,
albeit sans canopy nowadays.
