VH-ALC de Havilland
D.H.82A Tiger Moth
(c/n 83260/T289)
VH-ALC was one of those Hatfield-built Tigers which
was never issued an A17- serial. It spent
its service years in
Australia as N9259, and was not civilianized until 1951. Bob
Neat's color slide
(above, via the Geoff
Goodall collection) was taken at Condobolin, NSW in April 1964.
The nice
color
shot below
from Greg Banfield was at at air show at Point Cook in December
1973. At the
foot of the page
is an evocative 'bush' shot of
it from Ashley Waugh taken in the
early 1960s when
the Tiger was owned
by his maternal grandfather Keith
Butler and his brother Ken who
operated
from their
'Glengariff' property at Grenfell, NSW. In 1993 -ALC was was
exported to Germany
as D-EAJO.
It
later went to the UK as G-BXBO
but had its CofA cancelled by the
CAA in 1999.
Is it languishing somewhere in the
UK?
