VH-AGM (2) Auster J/1F Aiglet Trainer
(c/n 2717)
In the early 1950s for whatever
reason a
batch of Aiglets and Aiglet Trainers were registered in
the VH-AB_ thru VH-AG_ series rather
than under KSAS' VH-K series. -AGM was one of
them. Possibly these
Austers were privately imported and didn't come in through the
Kingsford
Smith agency at Bankstown.
Anyway, Geoff Goodall took the above shot at
Moorabbin in May
of
1967. VH-AGM was written off when it crashed into trees
after takeoff Moorooduc, Victoria
on
9 September 1971. In 1954 it took part in the
Redex Air Trial, flown by its owner Mr. W.A.
Murrell
of Hillston NSW, who on completion of the trial back at Sydney was
declared the overall
winner
of the 22 entrants. Bob Neate's shot of it wearing
its Redex titling is seen below, and was
taken at Wagga in August 1964.
