VH-AGG (2) Cessna 185A
Skywagon
(c/n 185-00507)
This shot, by
Alistair Coutts, was taken at the old Maylands Airport, Perth, just
before that field
was closed to
operations. VH-AGG was one of three 185As acquired by
Agricultural & General
Aviation and was allocated
the rego VH-RKT by Rex Aviation when they imported
it This was
immediately changed to -AGG (Adastra having long relinquished the VH-AG
series) before the
Skywagon was ferried west in December 1962. After
retirement from ag work in January 1970
it
was returned to 4-seater configuration and sold to a private owner in
WA It was short lived after
that, however, since
on 8 June of that year it was wrecked when it overturned in a forced
landing
some 85 miles south of Port
Hedland, WA. The damaged fuselage later appeared in various Janda-
kot hangars and was on the airport fire practice
ground by 1972.
