VH-AFM
(2) de Havilland D.H.82A Tiger
Moth
(c/n DHA447/T219)
VH-AFM was with the
Casino Aero Club when the above shot, from the Alan J. Sheppard
collection was taken, circa May
1947. Alan's father logged hours in
it. Roger McDonald
supplied the image
below which was taken from a Xeroxed copy of an old Box
Brownie snap-
shot. Roger captured
it from an old album lent to him
sometime ago - long before the advent
of scanners. Looks like the
Tiger was in
some sort of rally or race.
This was actually the second
allocation of the registration VH-AFM the
first being given to a
Consolidated 28-5MA Catalina
when delivered by Qantas in 1941, before
going to the RAAF as A24-12. This VH-AFM was
the former
A17-403 and was written off when it crashed at Tamworth, NSW on 29
June 1948.
