VH-AEY Douglas
DC-3CS1C3G
(c/n 9815)
VH-AEY operated the first TAA
service in November 1946 when it was named
'McMillan'
This was later
changed to 'Wentworth'.
By the time Neil Follet's
shot (above) was taken
at Essendon in 1961, -AEY had been relegated to freighter
service. It was still a passenger
machine
when I took my own (rather poor) shot below in 1955. I was going
to clone out the
fire extinguisher, but decided it lent a bit of nostalgia to the
shot! This DFC-3 was sold to the
Royal Netherlands
Air Force in 1962 as X-19.
