VH-ADH de
Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth
(c/n 82348)
This shot is via
John Patterson, who was a former director of of Airfarm
Associates Pty Ltd.
VH-ADH was one of
several Tigers owned by the spreading company when it was formed at
Tamworth, NSW in the
1950s. VH-ADH is interesting in that it was delivered as a new
civil
machine for the Newcastle Aero Club in February 1940, rather than being
a pure military trainer.
After
only serving with the club for a couple of months it was, in fact,
impressed into service with
with the RAAF in July
1940 and became A17-680. It was repatriated in in May 1946
and may
have had several
owners before being acquired by Airfarm and converted to a single seat
aerial
spreader/topdresser. It was withdrawn from the register in
August 1965 following some sort of
accident and was then restored to static
condition in 1968 and acquired by the Camden Museum
of Aviation. As far as I know, it
is still there (2011). .
