VH-ADD de
Havilland D.H.60X Moth
(c/n 920)
This Moth was imported from
Singapore in January 1940 by Jules Moxon of Brisbane. Originally
built as
G-AADJ in floatplane configuration for the Singapore Flying Club, it
was registered in the
Colony upon arrival as
VR-SAH. Following a crash in Singapore Harbour on 25
October 1938
it was
rebuilt as VR-SAQ. The above photo, (via The Collection
p1234-1599), depicts it at Archer-
field shortly after its arrival in Australia in January 1940. It
was registered to the Royal Queensland
Aero Club. Due to the war
the club only held it for seven months, during which time it trained
pilots
for the RAAF, before being impressed into that service as A7-111.
