(2) Auster J/1B Aiglet

This Aiglet was a common site on the ramp at
Launceston Airport (Western Junction) in the
early-1950s. Here it is whilst new in
1953 resplendent in a cream and red
finish. Kevin
OReilly dug
out the image below from the Queen Victoria Museum in lkaunceston,
depicting
the
Auster on a beach, somewhere in Tassie. This aircraft has been
preserved and is sitting on
a
pedestal (actually three poles) in
the Australian National Aviation
Museum at Moorabbin,
just
south and east of Melbourne. For
