VH-ACR (1) de Havilland D.H.94 Moth Minor
(c/n 94067)
The photos above and immediately below came
from an album of Randell Summerville whose father
was an
ATC in Brisbane in the 1950s. Both were at Archerfield,
and the upper one was taken on
the
occasion of Randell's mother, (back seat ) the former Elsa Shulte
taking a joyride in -ACR probably
after it
had been civilianized right after WW II. The shot at
the foot of the page is by Greg
Banfield
and
depicts VH-ACR as it was when hanging from the ceiling of Gilltrap's
Auto
Museum in Coolangatta,
Qld in
February of
1964. This Moth Minor was formerly G-AFNN, exported to Australia
early in 1940.
It was impressed into the RAAF
at the end of 1941 as
A21-42. Re-civilianized in 1945, it
was with-
drawn from active use in 1947. In 2003
a complete restoration was begun by Sandora Aviation in
Caboolture, which was completed in 2008. At that time the machine
was re-registered VH-CZB (2).
