                                            Essendon, 1954

                                            This was a Long Beach built C-47A-30-DL, having USAAF serial 42-23730.  It went to
                                            the RAAF as A65-12 (VHCTN).  It was civilianized for TAA in 1946.    It was sold to
                                            Mandated Airlines in New Guinea in 1959 and re-resistered VH-MAS.   It operated with
                                            Ansett-MAL from 1961 to 1967.   It was sold to far East Air Transport (FAT) in Taiwan
                                            in 1967 and scrapped there.  The nice color shot below was taken by Barrie Colledge in
                                           1956, also at Essendon.
